Recap of Community Development Activities Meeting on Liquor License Transfer at 3817 Butler St
On Thursday, September 26th, at 6:30 PM, Lawrenceville United and Lawrenceville Corporation hosted the Community Development Activities Meetings at New Alliance Federal Credit Union (3709 Butler St). The CDAM focused on the liquor license transfer for 3817 Butler St. MTK Associates were present to share their plans for the property and the reasons behind the liquor license transfer.
The meeting opened with LU’s Bryanna Johnson (Farmers Market Manager) and LC’s Sarah Trbovic (Executive Director) giving introductions and explaining the ground rules of the meeting before turning it over to Azeem Chatta of MTK Associates.
Azeem Chatta presented the plans for the site which is the former Circle K site. The building will reopen as Lawrenceville Express Market and will serve as a grocery and convenience store and have a 30-person seating area. There will be perishable and non-perishable goods, along with hot, grab-and-go type food. Colombino Coffee will be housed within the building. There will be single beers and six packs sold on-site, and there are no plans for more alcoholic items to be sold at the property. The Lawrenceville Express Market will operate 7 days a week from 5 AM-12 AM.
Following the presentation, a Community Q&A was opened up, and attendees asked a variety of questions regarding the items provided in the store, security, seating, ADA accessibility/mobility, workers’ rights, and more. The MTK Associates team answered questions and invited the community to continue to share feedback. Those present in-person and online were invited to fill out feedback forms (find in the links below) in case their questions went unanswered.
