Bio for Sacoyia Reed
Name: Sacoyia Reed
What years have you lived in Lawrenceville? 1.5 years
Why did you move to Lawrenceville? Safety, work at LU at the time
Current Job Title (if employed): Health Careers Teacher
Why do you want to be on the LU Board? What would you like to work on within the neighborhood? I have interests in the diversity work and the housing justice work specifically.
Please list Volunteer, Non-Profit, or Board Experience: This would be the first outside of “hiring committees.”
What makes Lawrenceville unique? Why? Declining child population. I want to see our housing justice work change that.
One of LU’s core values is equity and the organization will be undergoing anti-oppression trainings in summer 2022, which new Board members will participate in. What’s one idea you have for how LU should live out its commitment to equity?
How are you involved in the Lawrenceville community? Not since working the Buddy Program in 2020
What would you bring to the LU Board (e.g. experience, skills, perspective, network, etc.)? BIPOC/woman perspective. Politics, education, and community development experience. Unique (or not) ability to leave a lasting impression on stakeholders.
What is one fun fact that others might be surprised to know about you? I once walked across the Rainbow Bridge to Canada so that I could have just one stamp in my passport book. It is still my only stamp.
