Bio for Rebecca Himberger
Name: Rebecca Himberger
What years have you lived in Lawrenceville? 11 years
Why did you move to Lawrenceville? The community, the people, the proximity to my job
Current Job Title (if employed): Executive Director of Attack Theatre
Why do you want to be on the LU Board: I see board service as an important part of charitable work in which I have the capacity to give. I would like to remain on the Board of LU because I believe in its mission of improving and protecting the quality of life for all Lville residents. I hope my contributions to the board align with the values of the organization related to continuing engagement, equity, sustainability, and diversity and inclusion efforts – not to mention my specific skillsets regarding nonprofit management and systems building.
Please list Volunteer, Non-Profit, or Board Experience: Lawrenceville United Board Member (2018 – current), Board member of Chatham Baroque (2010-2016), Pittsburgh Emerging Arts Leaders Committee Member (2008-2013), employed by a nonprofit (2006-current), volunteer for literally hundreds of my peers events, performances, appeals, fundraisers, etc.
What makes Lawrenceville unique? Why? Lawrenceville is a sum of its people. I am constantly in awe of those willing to help, love, learn, and listen in this community. Being a part of this organization has taught me so much about what I still need to learn, how to grow, who to lean on, and what I can do to be a better community member. I know that’s probably not unique to Lawrenceville, but it’s my lived experience of my neighborhood, and what I think makes this place so special.
What is one thing you would like to work on within the neighborhood? Why? I love numbers and helping organizations find the story in their own data. Serving on LU’s board and helping a strong organization be stronger through great management and oversight is, albeit nerdy, a passion of mine.
How are you involved in the Lawrenceville community? I volunteer for events (LIVE, Cookie Mall, etc.), committees (Development, Membership, Finance), and am currently a Lawrenceville Buddy.
What would you bring to the LU Board (e.g. experience, skills, perspective, network, etc.)? I am currently the (interim) Treasurer of the board and the Chair of the Development Committee.
What is one fun fact that others might be surprised to know about you? While it’s one of my favorite words, I have a hard time saying no.
