Why did you move to Lawrenceville? My husband and I chose Lawrenceville as the first house we lived in together, as a rental. The next year we bought a property in the same street because it is where we wanted to stay.
Current job title (if employed): Arts Administrator, International Sculpture Center
Why do you want to be on the LU Board? What would you like to work on within the neighborhood? I both live and work in the neighborhood, and have come to feel intrinsically connected here, and would like to do my part to support a conscientious and strategic approach to maintaining vital character and promoting a diverse and inclusive future.
Volunteer, Non-Profit, or Board Experience: I was previously on the board of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists. I also worked for the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of City Planning for over eight years, in community-centered project development.
What makes Lawrenceville unique? Why? It seems to sit at a rare intersection of seeming opposites: tradition and innovation, old and new, lifelong residents and visitors.. and it has the capacity not only for these polarities to each be valuable, but for them to combined make the whole more valuable for everyone.
One of LU’s core values is equity and the organization has recently embraced anti-oppression trainings to support our work in this area. What’s one idea you have for how LU should live out its commitment to equity? Promote opportunities for intersectional programming – look for the nuanced ways that non-majority communities can contribute to hyper local culture
How are you involved in the Lawrenceville community? I live, work, and play here, support Lawrenceville businesses and participate in community events and fundraisers.
What would you bring to the LU Board (e.g. experience, skills, perspective, network, etc.)? I have experience and connections to local arts and the creative economy, as well as experience and knowledge of governmental departments and processes.
What’s one fun fact that others might be surprised to know about you? I’m a competitive longsword fighter!
