/ Board Candidate Bio for Ian Everhart (2024)

Name: Ian Everhart

Neighborhood: 9th Ward (Central Lawrenceville)

What years have you lived in Lawrenceville? 2019 to present

Why did you move to Lawrenceville? My wife and I were looking for a location to live that was convenient for both of our work commutes, and were lucky enough to find a place here.

Current Job Title (if employed): Assistant Counsel, Pennsylvania Department of State

Why do you want to be on the LU Board? What would you like to work on within the neighborhood? I want to help be a voice to shape our neighborhood’s future. I especially care about issues of transportation, mobility, energy and infrastructure.

Please list Volunteer, Non-Profit, or Board Experience: Lawrenceville United Board of Directors (2023–present). Volunteer with many political campaigns; board member for nonprofit bicycle group (Flock of Cycles)

What makes Lawrenceville unique?  Why? Lawrenceville has a rich history (first as an independent borough before the Civil War, and as part of the city), a variety of historic buildings and modern structures, a vibrant business district that changes remarkably along its length, and wonderful people who call it home.

One of LU’s core values is equity and the organization has recently embraced anti-oppression trainings to support our work in this area. What’s one idea you have for how LU should live out its commitment to equity? Encouraging consideration of minority- and women-owned businesses for construction projects. Making sure that recreational facilities and opportunities are provided equitably across the neighborhood.

How are you involved in the Lawrenceville community? I live here, and my bike commute takes me through the neighborhood en route to my office downtown. I know most of my neighbors, and have hosted and attended numerous social events in the neighborhood. My daughter attends CYA’s child care program at the Stephen Foster Center. I have deepened my involvement as a current Board member with LU.

What would you bring to the LU Board (e.g. experience, skills, perspective, network, etc.)? I am a multimodal traveler, and can offer firsthand insights about moving through Lawrenceville in a car, on foot, on the bus, on a bike, on a scooter, and while pushing a stroller. I am also trained as an attorney and could offer some thoughts on legal questions that might arise.

What is one fun fact that others might be surprised to know about you?  I have a 1,400 day streak on Duolingo, learning French and German.
