/ Bio for Tienne Wolff (2022)

Name: Peter St. Tienne Wolff (Tienne)

What years have you lived in Lawrenceville? October 2017 to the present

Why did you move to Lawrenceville? I was drawn to the unique and vibrant nature of the neighborhood, the significant number of things to do and areas to explore within walking distance, and the proximity to downtown and other neighborhoods

Current Job Title (if employed): Attorney

Why do you want to be on the LU Board? What would you like to work on within the neighborhood?

I joined the LU Board in 2020 and am running for reelection.  In my first year on the Board, I joined the Finance Committee and was elected Vice President of the Executive Committee.  In my second year, I continued my service on the Finance Committee and was elected as Treasurer of the Executive Committee.  I feel that my service has just begun, and I would like to continue to offer any help that I can to the organization.
I was initially drawn to the LU Board by my desire to get more involved in the community.  My grandfather was born in Bloomfield and worked in Lawrenceville throughout his adult life.  I often meet people in the neighborhood who were positively impacted by my grandfather, and I want to continue his good work and volunteer my time and energy to our neighborhood.

Please list Volunteer, Non-Profit, or Board Experience:

I am a member of the Board of Trustees of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania.

From 2020-2021, my wife and I delivered meals to senior citizens every Friday.  We picked up the meals from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania building on Butler Street and delivered them to Morningside Crossing.  I’ve also helped in the Lawrenceville Buddy Program and in “breaking down” the Lawrenceville Farmers’ Market on multiple occasions after it closed for the week.

Since moving to Lawrenceville, I’ve also helped prepare meals at the Ronald McDonald House Charities located at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Additionally, I have served as a volunteer at Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh, which is a free, two-day dental clinic for under served people living in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area, many of whom are from working families who do not have access to dental work or cannot afford dental insurance.  Prior to these experiences, I volunteered at the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Winter Games at Hidden Valley Ski Resort.

What makes Lawrenceville unique? Why? I believe that the history, residents, and geography all make Lawrenceville unique.  We are close to a number of different communities and downtown; we have a great mix of people; we have shops, restaurants and bars that you won’t find anywhere else in town; and, while we are an urban neighborhood, we have miles of riverfront trails and trails through the cemetery that can make you feel like you’re not in the city.

One of LU’s core values is equity and the organization will be undergoing anti-oppression trainings in summer 2022, which new Board members will participate in. What’s one idea you have for how LU should live out its commitment to equity? One idea for how LU should live out its commitment to equity is to analyze and understand how LU’s policies, programming, and actions as an organization affect and accomplish LU’s equity goals and to make any necessary changes to ensure that the organization is staying true to its core values.

How are you involved in the Lawrenceville community? As noted above, I joined the LU Board in 2020, serve on the Finance Committee, currently serve as Treasurer on the Executive Committee, and previously served in the role of Vice President.  I have also volunteered with the Lawrenceville Farmers Market, the Buddy Program, and in delivering meals to senior citizens

What would you bring to the LU Board (e.g. experience, skills, perspective, network, etc.)? I would bring my energy, commitment, attention to detail, and desire to see our neighborhood be the best that it can be.

What is one fun fact that others might be surprised to know about you? I love adventure and anything that will lead to an adrenaline rush.  I’m a big fan of skydiving, paragliding, bungee-jumping, fly boarding, skiing, and hiking
